Any search engine is organized in the number of hits it gets. If I searched youtube on it, first would come youtube and then other stuff because youtube has the most hits. The search engine cannot change this legally.

there are different factors that go into which sites show up in which ordernumber of hits, links from other big sites, etc. the businesses with top rankings may or may not be reliable. google them with the word complaints or service to see if they have bad or good service etc.like google amazon.com complaints or buy.com service to see if other people have posted things about them

The websites at the very top are called sponsored links or pay per click, you choose keywords related to your website such as ' free quote" will cost about $5 per click but if you reconfigure it to "quote on intuition" it will cost a lot less. The website under that are sites t based on popularity and basically the only way to get your popular on the web is with time.

Search engines are usually the same. Maybe different layout and things but just very similar. There are some very minor things that differ these two. Google is a very trusted search engine and is a good search engine to search for worldwide/overseas things. For Australian (or whatever country you're from) websites use yahoo just for the pure speed and locality. And as a bonus you get Yahoo Answers things as well if you scroll down. Personally I use Yahoo most of the time.
