For adult thumbnail galleries, the process with their thumbnail with a special kind of image processing filter that smooths out the color. What is the correct term for this, and which galleries will do this?

Are you referring to "color dampening"? I'm not sure if that is the term for it though. Most TGP gallery scripts(at least the paid ones) should have this feature implemented. Just search for it via google, I'm sure you'll find it.
